Ottoman music - Çeçen kizi = chechenian girl by tanburi cemil bey *1873 Ottoman classical music (Klâsik Türk Mûsikîsi, Sanat Mûsikîsi) developed in Istanbul and major Ottoman towns from Skopje to Cairo, from Tabriz to Morocco through the palace, mosques, and sufi lodges of the Ottoman Empire. A profile of the Turkish çeng (Ottoman harp) player and builder Fikret Karakaya (b. 1955 in Kayseri, central Turkey). The çeng, a Turkish angular harp, was a popular instrument in the Ottoman Empire until the last quarter of the 17th century. In 1995, Fikret Karakaya, a kemençe player, made the first Turkish çeng to be reconstructed in the modern day using the descriptions in the masnavi "Çengname" by the Turkish poet Ahmed-i Dai, and from Iranian and Ottoman miniatures from the 15th and 16th centuries. He plays and records with the instrument. This program originally aired on İzmir TV/Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) in 2008.

Friday marks the start of commemorations around the world for those who died in the fight for the Turkish peninsula of Gallipoli. The forces of the Ottoman Empire repelled an attack from the British Army, soldiers from Commonwealth countries including Australia, New Zealand, India and Canada, and France. Between April 1915 and the Allied withdrawal in January 1916, more than 130,000 men were killed on the two sides. Drone pilot: Neil Paton. Editor: Nikki Nahal. Producer: Jim Buchanan. [Legend about life]
In autumnal yellowed foliage
Knightly armor dwells and killed horse
Sunlight breeze dry out dew
On helmet and sword of hero
Hero dropped of in eternal sleep
Glance of his dull blue eyes
Sad and weary towards heaven aim
Fade away the glory of gallant knights
Trees are bowing down with wistful song
Grey hairs of fathers, woeful eyes of mothers
Tone of sylvan horns sounds through the autumn
Clamor of battles in a distance fade away.
As it whole world were went to sleep
And stars glowing on yellowed foliage
Where knightly armor dwell
And killed horse, helmet and sword...
[Dedicated to J.Vrobel]
I would become my own demon, somebody speaks to me,
his sight fire's a sign in my heart, sign of age and death,
sign fiery and frore, coursing before me dark and horrid.
